Breese Central is a perfect 5-0 against Red Bud since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Musketeers at 4:00 p.m. Breese Central's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Red Bud's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Breese Central took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against East Alton-Wood River as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Red Bud entered their tilt with Metro-East Lutheran on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 9-7.

The team relied heavily on Lucas Schwartzkopf, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Hohgrefe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Red Bud pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Breese Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Breese Central took their win against Red Bud when the teams last played back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
