It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Swink Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 62-58 win over St. Mary's. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Swink's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Bauserman led the charge by scoring 26 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bauserman has scored at least 25% of Swink's points. Another player making a difference was Nate Cabrera, who scored 22 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's still got an impressive performance from Jackson Lewis, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Padrnos, who scored 10 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Swink and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Swink won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rye at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Rye focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for St. Mary's, they will take on Monte Vista at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
