The Creekside Knights had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past Fleming Island with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Creekside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Rivers, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Rivers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Alex Collier was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Fleming Island's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce Robinson, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and Carson Crawford who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Burney, who scored six points along with three steals.
Creekside's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Fleming Island, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Creekside will head out on the road to face off against Ponte Vedra at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponte Vedra will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Fleming Island won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gulf Breeze at 10:30 a.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Gulf Breeze focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday.
