Ethan Wright of Little River ran for the longest rushing play in Wheat State (8 Man) this season against Canton-Galva last week. Wright ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 272 on the day as his team bested the Eagles.
Hope extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Tescott, 56-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Goessel's dynamic duo of Trey Schmidt and Zach Showalter proved tough for White City to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schmidt threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns and Showalter had 180 yards receiving. Nic Buller helped Goessel's passing attack out by catching five balls for 105 yards.
Chet Cordell made the biggest impact on defense this week as Little River topped Canton-Galva. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed four sacks.
The Bluebirds' Schmidt and Showalter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schmidt has thrown for 1523 yards this season, while Showalter, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 26 catches for 560 yards. Colton Shirack from Solomon leads the league in rushing with 889 yards.
A big matchup in Wheat State (8 Man) this week will be when Goessel takes on Hope. Garrett Hiebert's team is currently in fifth, while Jeff Hostetter's team is in fourth.
Paul Dold's team took down the Eagles 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wright threw for 56 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
