The Forney Jackrabbits extended their postseason success on Friday against the Lone Star Rangers. They had just enough and edged the Rangers out 26-24. Given Forney's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Lone Star is ranked 69th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Javian Osborne was his usual excellent self, rushing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
When it comes to explaining why Lone Star lost, one person who can't be blamed is Davian Groce. Despite the final result, he picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
The win was the sixth in a row for Forney, bringing their record for this year to 11-1. As for Lone Star, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Forney will head out on the road to face off against Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richland is on a five-game streak of home wins, Forney a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Lone Star does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
