Perry Central is 8-2 against West Washington since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Commodores will head out to challenge the Senators at 7:00 p.m. Perry Central will be strutting in after a win while West Washington will be coming in after a loss.
West Washington will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Perry Central extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Commodores walked away with a 6-3 victory over Lanesville.
Luke Stumler looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dylan Mullis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Wyatt Peckinpaugh also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Perry Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, West Washington unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Orleans.
Jaylin Lockard made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Ables, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Perry Central's record now sits at 10-7-1. As for West Washington, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry Central skirted past West Washington 11-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
