On Friday, the Martinsburg Bulldogs faced the Jefferson Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Martinsburg walked away with a 73-62 win over the Cougars. The win was just what Martinsburg needed coming off of a 89-45 loss in their prior contest.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaiden Gladney. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of Jefferson's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jamari Jenkins, who scored nine points.
Martinsburg's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Jefferson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.
Martinsburg will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hampshire is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to challenge the Applemen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Musselman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
