The Apple Valley Eagles will challenge the Burnsville Blaze at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Apple Valley has three straight victories, Burnsville has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Apple Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Roosevelt get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
The team relied heavily on Brinley Gretz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Gretz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Apple Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Burnsville suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Shakopee by a score of 6-4.
Brooke Gerber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Sid Handrahan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Dam, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Apple Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Burnsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Apple Valley took their victory against Burnsville when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blaze turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
