There's no place like home for the Pittsfield Generals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down West Springfield 70-53 on Friday. Given Pittsfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while West Springfield is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pittsfield had a senior duo take command as Makai Shepardson scored 20 points and Malachi Perry scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Da'Sean Brown, who scored 11 points.
Pittsfield's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for West Springfield, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pittsfield will take on Minnechaug Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Springfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Taconic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Taconic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
