The Burlington Cougars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 53-6 loss at the hands of Wray. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Burlington in their matchups with Wray: they've now lost six in a row.
Samuel Meisner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wray, rushing for 109 yards and five touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Austin Collins, who gained 113 total yards and a touchdown.
Burlington's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Limon and 7-1 Elizabeth (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.5% over those games). As for Wray, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burlington will take on Holyoke at 7:00 p.m. on October 28th. Holyoke presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Burlington in Colorado (Holyoke is ranked 32nd, while Burlington is ranked 154th). As for Wray, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wiggins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
