Forest Grove is 0-5 against Wilsonville since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Forest Grove Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wilsonville Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Forest Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Wilsonville is ranked seventh).
Two weeks ago, Forest Grove was beaten by Hillsboro 41-7.
Meanwhile, Wilsonville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past Southridge 61-8 at home. The result was nothing new for Wilsonville, who have now won five matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Wilsonville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kallen Gutridge out in front who threw for 158 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 passes. Gutridge is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Nick Crowley also helped out with an impressive 92 receiving yards.
Wilsonville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Riddick Molatore and his three sacks.
Forest Grove now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Wilsonville, their win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
Forest Grove took a serious blow against Wilsonville when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 42-0. Thankfully for Forest Grove, Cooper Hiday (who picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
