The Wootton Patriots posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 65-25 win over Watkins Mill. Given Wootton's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Watkins Mill is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wootton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taj Smith, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Yassine Idrissa, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Wootton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Watkins Mill, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12.
Wootton will face off against Damascus at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Damascus is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Watkins Mill on the road again on Monday and play against Springbrook on January 29th.
