The Boardman Spartans were the 84-69 winner over the East Liverpool Potters when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Boardman fell 54-42 to East Liverpool on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Boardman has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Boardman still got an impressive performance from Nico Holzschuh, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Holzschuh scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Noah Ziak, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Boardman and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for East Liverpool, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boardman will face off against Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Mooney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Boardman is ranked 121st). East Liverpool won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Steubenville at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Steubenville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
