Lincoln County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Riverside Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln County, who comes in off a win.
You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Lincoln County's strategy against Braxton County on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln County blew Braxton County out of the water with a 38-0 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lincoln County had established a 35 point advantage.
Lucas johaim looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. Drew Banks was another key contributor, gaining 120 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 48 points the game before, Riverside were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were beaten by Hurricane 44-7. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Hurricane is ranked fourth).
Lincoln County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Riverside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Lincoln County was taken down by Riverside 65-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Lincoln County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
