The Las Animas Trojans waltzed into their matchup Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] by a score of 31-24. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 4 on the offensive boards, as Las Animas did.
Emma Netherton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadann Eck, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Las Animas pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Las Animas will square off against Fowler at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fowler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Saturday. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walsh at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
