The Legacy Early College Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Victory Christian Center 79-48 at home. The win was familiar territory for Legacy Early College who now have six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legacy Early College to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mela Hollaway, who scored 15 points along with six assists. Janyia Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Victory Christian Center's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lya Gonzalez, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Deborah Orianegbena, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Victory Christian Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Early College only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Legacy Early College's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Victory Christian Center, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
Legacy Early College won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Gray Collegiate Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday. Victory Christian Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
