If Cape Fear was riding high  fresh off their  3-0 takedown of Pine Forest on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colts took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinecrest Patriots on Wednesday. The Colts' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
 Cape Fear came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 17-25, 25-23,  25-22.
 Tabitha Newlin paced Cape Fear's offense, picking up 22 kills. Newlin got some help from  Sophia Wilson and her 20 assists.  Kloe Watts controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
 Pinecrest was led to victory by  Aubrey Taylor and  Kenlee Agrell.  Taylor  had 33  digs and three  aces, while  Agrell  had eight  digs and two  aces. Taylor has been hot for a while, having  posted 11 or more  digs the last ten times she's  played.
Cape Fear's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Pinecrest, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record  this season.
 Cape Fear does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pinecrest, they will face off against Myers Park at 7:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
