This season hasn't been kind to the Apprentice Academy Red Wolves, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a serious blow against Valor Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, falling 86-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Apprentice Academy in their matchups with Valor Preparatory Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
It was another big night for Bishop Witherspoon, who scored 26 points for Valor Preparatory Academy. Witherspoon is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Darrell Caldwell, who scored 18 points.
Apprentice Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apprentice Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Carolina International at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Carolina International knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Apprentice Academy likes a good challenge. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Queen's Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
