After a string of nine wins, the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 55-45 to Forest Park. Gwynn Park was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Foresters apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.
Gwynn Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Geornae Davis, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Pitts, who scored eight points.
Forest Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chaniya Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Taylor hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Carroll, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Gwynn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Forest Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gwynn Park will take on the at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forest Park, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mighty Ducks at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglass comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
