Basketball Recap: Kalama Skates Past Fort Vancouver with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kalama). They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 63-13 blowout they got against the Fort Vancouver Trappers. That's more bragging rights for the Chinooks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kalama was led to victory by Hannah Johnson and Aubrey Doerty. Johnson dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Doerty posted 15 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. The contest was Doerty's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Rylie Cadigan was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Kalama smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

The victory got Kalama back to even at 4-4. As for Fort Vancouver, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Kalama wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-42 loss against King's Way Christian on the 8th. Fort Vancouver has also already played their next contest, a 54-11 defeat against Castle Rock on the 8th.
