The Muncy Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Warrior Run Defenders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Muncy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
Muncy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bucktail just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bucks by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Indians still had to take the loss.
Muncy got a massive performance out of Taylor Shannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Jailyn Baker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Warrior Run entered their tilt with Montgomery last Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Red Raiders.
MacKenzie Heyler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lakesha Hauck was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Forman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run.
Warrior Run's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Muncy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Warrior Run's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Muncy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. It's a different story for Warrior Run, though, as they've only averaged .308. Will they be able to contain Muncy's hitters?
Muncy was able to grind out a solid win over Warrior Run in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Defenders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
