The Scottsbluff Bearcats waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Gering with points to spare, taking the game 67-48. Given Scottsbluff's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Gering is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scottsbluff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keon Delgado, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Delgado also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Nate Kelley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Scottsbluff has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Gering, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
Scottsbluff and Sidney will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sidney knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Scottsbluff likes a good challenge. As for Gering, Gering and North Platte will face off at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully North Platte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
