The Mountain View Mountain Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-43 to Catalina Foothills. Mountain View has not had much luck with Catalina Foothills recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Mountain View's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Holly McLemore, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, and Kayla Carter who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Carter has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Hunter Don was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Clara-Mae Hrouch was her usual excellent self, scoring 37 points along with six assists and four steals for Catalina Foothills. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hrouch has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayanna Chief, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Mountain View's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-9. As for Catalina Foothills, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will take on Ironwood Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ironwood Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. Catalina Foothills won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Canyon del Oro has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Catalina Foothills will arrive with three straight wins.
