The Geneva Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Lake Park Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Geneva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Geneva had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Glenbard East on Saturday. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Rams. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.
Miles Dibble was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dibble was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Geneva got a massive performance out of Tate Beran, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave Beran a new career-high. Mason Bruesch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Geneva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Lake Park's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hersey on Saturday. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lake Park also got a good showing from Patrick St. John, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. St. John also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Lancers are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Lake Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Gallagher, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Lake Park's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Geneva, their record now sits at 12-4.
Lake Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Geneva hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Lake Park, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Geneva's hitters?
Geneva couldn't quite get it done against Lake Park when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
