Crystal Lake Central and McHenry are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crystal Lake Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Woodstock scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, Crystal Lake Central still came out on top. Crystal Lake Central managed a 63-58 win over Woodstock. The victory was just what Crystal Lake Central needed coming off of a 75-54 defeat in their prior match.
Crystal Lake Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Hopkins out in front who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Jake Terlecki was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, McHenry's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Belvidere North 43-38. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McHenry has scored all season.
Crystal Lake Central's win ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for McHenry, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.
Crystal Lake Central ended up a good deal behind McHenry when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 68-49. Can Crystal Lake Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
