The Lawrence North Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 72-71 photo finish over Indianapolis Crispus Attucks. Given Lawrence North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Indianapolis Crispus Attucks is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lawrence North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brennan Miller led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Miller's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Azavier Robinson, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Indianapolis Crispus Attucks' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Lewis, who scored 21 points along with five assists. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Dezmon Briscoe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Lawrence North's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Indianapolis Crispus Attucks, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Lawrence North will head out on the road to face off against Southport at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southport has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Indianapolis Crispus Attucks won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eminence at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Eminence is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
