The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers were the 68-67 winner over the Columbus Christian Crusaders when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Shawe Memorial fell just short of Columbus Christian by a score of 69-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbus Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Walden, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cam Pritchard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Shawe Memorial are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Columbus Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawe Memorial will take on Switzerland County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Switzerland County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday. As for Columbus Christian, they will be playing at home against Crothersville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
