Softball Game Preview: Barrington Eagles vs. North Providence Cougars

The Barrington Eagles will face off against the North Providence Cougars at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Barrington's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while North Providence has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Barrington came out on top against Woonsocket on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run second inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Villa Novans with a sharp 16-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendall Fisher (2025) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Fisher (2025) was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Barrington let Aislinn McCoy (2025) and Ruby Ciummo (2025) run wild. McCoy (2025) went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ciummo (2025) went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave McCoy (2025) a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Conaty (2025), who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Barrington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are 9-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, North Providence came up short against Davies Career & Tech on Friday, falling 13-1.

North Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Barrington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

North Providence's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Barrington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486.
