Grace got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was RIley Williams out in front who threw for 251 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. What's more, Williams racked up 132.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Jake Williams, who rushed for 167 yards and one score while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Another reason for the win was Grace's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. TJ Moore was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Moore is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Landon Cooper got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Nordhoff got themselves on the board against Santa Clara on Friday, but Santa Clara never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 63-0 win over the Saints. The victory was familiar territory for the Rangers, who have now won six contests in a row.
Nordhoff's win came from a few key players Grace will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Desi Canfield, who picked up 39 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground. Michael Dennie was another key player, throwing for 217 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing.
Nordhoff didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Josh Dominguez and Bret Winters. Nordhoff received some extra help from Pablo Ponce, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Grace now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Nordhoff, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Grace has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nordhoff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 208.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Grace against Nordhoff when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-22 victory. In that contest, the Lancers amassed a halftime lead of 37-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
