Baseball Recap: Brother Rice Sets Scoring Season-High Against University of Detroit Jesuit

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brother Rice). They never let the University of Detroit Jesuit Cubs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brother Rice got a great performance from Blake Ilitch as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ilitch is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Broder Katke was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Cash Van Ameyde, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Brother Rice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brother Rice's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brother Rice will face off against Edison Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they will be playing at home against St. Francis de Sales at 4:00 p.m. on the 25th.
