The Clermont Northeastern Rockets will venture away from home to square off against the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Clermont Northeastern easily dispatched Georgetown on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Rockets fell just short of Williamsburg by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday.

Hunter Kelley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Sammy Woolery made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Carlier, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Felicity-Franklin came up short against East Clinton on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Astros: they've now lost four in a row.
Jona Carnahan was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Clermont Northeastern has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Felicity-Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clermont Northeastern has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Felicity-Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Clermont Northeastern came out on top in a nail-biter against Felicity-Franklin in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
