Softball Recap: Gibault Catholic Wins Going Away Against Althoff Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sparta, Gibault Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Althoff Catholic Crusaders. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.

Chloe Lancaster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Gibault Catholic let Molly Steibel and Lauren Lanham run wild. Steibel scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Lanham scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Steibel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Bollman, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Gibault Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Althoff Catholic, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Gibault Catholic will challenge Red Bud at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Althoff Catholic, they will take on Granite City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
