The Aptos Mariners''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Hollister by a score of 29-26. Aptos was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hollister apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Aptos' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matt Hood, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Torres was in the mix too, providing Aptos with two touchdowns.
Aptos' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. As for Hollister, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Aptos will take on Soquel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Soquel will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Hollister, they will head out on the road to face off against Salinas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Salinas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hollister in California (Salinas is ranked 146th, while Hollister is ranked 304th).
