The Avoyelles Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-6 victory over Pickering. Avoyelles' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Decareyn Sampson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 319 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Sampson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Jones, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Avoyelles' win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Pickering, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Avoyelles will head out on the road to face off against Kinder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kinder knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Avoyelles likes a good challenge. Pickering does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
