The Acton-Boxborough Colonials had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They strolled past Wayland with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. That's two games straight that Acton-Boxborough has won by exactly 14 points.
It was another big night for Shannon Patrick, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Acton-Boxborough's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Bitencourt, who scored 15 points.
Acton-Boxborough's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Wayland, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-5 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Acton-Boxborough will square off against Fontbonne Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Wayland, they will head out on the road to take on Bedford at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
