Archie extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Kingsville Tigers, falling 21-11. The Whirlwinds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Elsie Parsons was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tensley Sutton, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
As for Kingsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Kingsville's side, Kinsey Scrutchfield made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Scrutchfield has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kingsville got a massive performance out of Adalin Bush, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was Bush's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jovie Scrutchfield, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Archie will face off against Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingsville, they will challenge Sweet Springs at 5:00 p.m. on April 3.
