The Yerington Lions will face off against the Oasis Academy Bighorns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Yerington sitting on nine straight wins and Oasis Academy on five.
Yerington will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Pershing County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Yerington was the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over Pershing County on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Erika Landa tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February.
At the plate, Karla Zarazua and Laney Triplett did most of the damage at the plate: Zarazua went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Triplett scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Yessenia Zarazua was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Yerington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Oasis Academy made easy work of Silver Stage on Saturday and carried off a 21-4 victory. The Bighorns are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the ninth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Grace Laca was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Lewis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Oasis Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Yerington, their record is now 10-3.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Yerington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Oasis Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yerington took their win against Oasis Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. Will Yerington repeat their success, or does Oasis Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
