Desert Pines has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Arbor View Aggies at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Desert Pines suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 95-65 loss at the hands of Coronado. While losing is never fun, Desert Pines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Coronado is ranked third).
Meanwhile, Arbor View was able to grind out a solid win over Silverado on Wednesday, taking the game 77-66.
Arbor View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pharaoh Compton led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Compton hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. DeMarion Yap was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Desert Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Arbor View, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Desert Pines suffered a grim 65-43 defeat to Arbor View when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Desert Pines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
