The West Lincoln Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Maiden Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Lincoln's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lincolnton 15-0. Winning may never get old, but the Rebels sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Danilyn Lewis made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kaylin Pardo was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Abree Sutton was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
West Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Maiden won against Newton-Conover two weeks ago with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Blue Devils' way against Lincolnton as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on four straight.
Like West Lincoln, Maiden also got a great game from a two-way player: Raegan Rembert. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rembert was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Maiden let Maddy Clontz and Olivia Wray run wild. Clontz went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Wray went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Clontz has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bryan, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
West Lincoln's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maiden, their record now sits at 11-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Maiden struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Lincoln beat Maiden 11-7 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
