The Northwest Rankin Cougars were the 55-52 winner over the Madison Central Jaguars when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Northwest Rankin took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison Central on Tuesday.
It was another big night for Lauren Sutton, who scored 18 points along with 6 steals for Madison Central. The game was Sutton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alilyiah Morris was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Northwest Rankin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Madison Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Northwest Rankin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Choctaw Central. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Choctaw Central is ranked 28th, while Northwest Rankin is ranked 30th). As for Madison Central, they will be playing at home against Velma Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
