On Saturday, Aniak strolled past Chaputnguak with points to spare, taking the game 66-48.
Chaputnguak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Felagai Laumea, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Matthew, who scored 12 points.
Aniak has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Chaputnguak, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Aniak will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cook Inlet Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaputnguak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
