The Montrose Blue Jays lost to the Bronaugh Wildcats back in December of 2023, but the Montrose Blue Jays didn't allow the Bronaugh Wildcats the same satisfaction on Friday. Montrose rang in the new year with a 55-46 victory over Bronaugh.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colter Banes, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds. Banes has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Luke Bowling was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Montrose now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Bronaugh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Montrose will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Wheatland will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Bronaugh will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Jasper at 5:00 p.m. on January 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Jasper is ranked 347th, while Bronaugh is ranked 342nd).
