On Friday, The South Lakes Seahawks faced the James Madison Warhawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. South Lakes snuck past James Madison with a 12-7 win. The win was just business as usual for South Lakes, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
South Lakes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Harris led the charge by throwing for 235 yards and a touchdown. South Lakes also got help from Brian Kennedy who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
Several Warhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominic Knicely, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown.
South Lakes' victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. As for James Madison, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-1.
South Lakes will head out on the road to face off against Centreville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centreville is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for James Madison, they will be playing at home against Oakton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while James Madison is ranked 15th).
