The Sedgwick County Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Caliche with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sedgwick County.
Leading Sedgwick County to victory were Lainee Nein and Abigail Dille. Nein scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Dille dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dille pulled down eight or more rebounds. Olivia Ingram was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Caliche's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Hernandez and Karsyn Huss. Hernandez scored 14 points, while Huss scored 11 points.
Sedgwick County's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Caliche, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Sedgwick County will head out on the road to square off against Haxtun at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Caliche won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Otis at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Otis and Caliche are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
