The Chandler Prep Titans entered their tilt with the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Chandler Prep made off with a 55-54 win over Santa Cruz Valley. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chandler Prep also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Noah Ruiz, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb So, who scored 13 points.
Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Esequiel Perez, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Perez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Contreras, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Chandler Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.
Chandler Prep will head out on the road to challenge Horizon Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tempe Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Tempe Prep is ranked 264th, while Santa Cruz Valley is ranked 247th).
