The Louisa County Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 48-29 fall against Harrisonburg. Louisa County lost against Harrisonburg in their previous head to head back in December of 2014, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-38 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Louisa County saw an underclassman step up: Addison Talley scored six points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Talley pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia Davis, who scored six points.
Louisa County's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Harrisonburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Louisa County and Monticello will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Monticello will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Harrisonburg, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. Spotswood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Harrisonburg in Virginia (Spotswood is ranked 23rd, while Harrisonburg is ranked 170th).
