At the plate, Nolan Loonam was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy didn't have quite enough to beat iMater Charter on Monday and fell 6-5.
Liam DeCicco was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tristan Sierra and Jon Mora stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sierra scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Mora scored a run and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Mora has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alan Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Somerset Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. Chaminade-Madonna's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chaminade-Madonna has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Somerset Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chaminade-Madonna couldn't quite get it done against Somerset Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as they fell 8-4. Can Chaminade-Madonna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
