The Fort Chiswell Pioneers will head out to face off against the Narrows Green Waves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Chiswell will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Fort Chiswell proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Giles, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since April 4th.

Blair Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over 12 innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Krista King, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Lilly Goforth, who went 3-for-6 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fort Chiswell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Narrows was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Galax, falling 15-1. The Green Waves have struggled against the Maroon Tide recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Narrows saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holly Gilbert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Narrows' defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Fort Chiswell, their record is now 13-5.
Narrows' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fort Chiswell has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Narrows, though, as they've been averaging 12.1 hits. Given Fort Chiswell's sizable advantage in that area, the Green Waves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fort Chiswell took their victory against Narrows in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
