New Riegel has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Calvert Senecas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, New Riegel blew past the Raiders, posting a 78-49 win at home. Given New Riegel's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Raiders are ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Calvert gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Woodmore as Calvert made off with a 61-39 victory. The victory was nothing new for Calvert as they're now sitting on four straight.
Calvert got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Rombach out in front who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caden Otterbacher, who scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks.
New Riegel pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Calvert, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
New Riegel came up short against the Senecas when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 58-48. Can New Riegel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
