Boylan Catholic hasn't had much luck against Harlem recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Titans will head out to square off against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Boylan Catholic has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Belvidere hit Boylan Catholic with a five-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans came up short against the Buccaneers, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by exactly ten runs.
Elizabeth Mroz and Ari Ousley stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mroz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Ousley went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Lily Burke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harlem). They never let Jefferson get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Huskies as they're now sitting on three straight.
Addy Toltzman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Toltzman was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Harlem got a massive performance out of Maddy Merschman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Merschman a new career-high. Olivia Christiansen was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Harlem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .812. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Harlem's record is now 6-3. As for Boylan Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boylan Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Harlem struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boylan Catholic might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Harlem when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
